Inspection and Game Training Team Supervisor #01256 - Richmond
(Compliance/Safety Officer IV, Pay Band 5)
The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services', Division of Consumer Protection is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Supervisor for the Inspection and Game Training Team in the Office of Charitable and Regulatory Programs (OCRP). This position provides direction and guidance to the team by coordinating inspection activities and investigations related to the allege violations of the charitable gaming statute and regulations. Key tasks include supervising staff; ensuring compliance with all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements while permitted organizations manage, operate, and conduct their charitable gaming activities; and coordinating investigative efforts carried out by staff. Once onboarded, this position may be eligible for telework opportunities; availability, hours, and duration of telework shall be approved as outlined in the Commonwealth's telework policy. Minimum Qualifications
Working knowledge of a broad range of principles and techniques used to regulate complex laws, statutes, and processes. Strong investigative, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; deal tactfully with staff and the public; analyze data, formulate logical conclusions and make recommendations for operational implementation; interpret, explain and apply complex laws, regulations, and procedures and to develop and achieve subject matter expertise on program issues. Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and oversee the work of others to include planning, directing and tracking work; motivating, setting goals and objectives; training on technical issues, coaching and mentoring; interviewing and selecting; and evaluating, counseling and disciplining all while maintaining a high level of customer service and employee satisfaction. Computer proficiency and experience using standard office software applications such as Microsoft Office programs. Progressively responsible experience in effectively managing a regulatory work unit in providing services to the public that includes highly technical or legal information as well as success in the investigation and resolution of complaints. Must have (or be eligible for) and maintain a valid driver's license and have a driving record that reflects a sense of responsibility for highway safety. H.S. Diploma/GED required.

A combination of related education, training and experience indicating possession of the preceding knowledge, skills, and abilities to include knowledge of public administration, business, criminal justice, or a related field in addition to knowledge of contract or consumer protection laws.
