Inside Sales Representative

Public Lumber & Millwork is a 97 year old lumber company specializing in the manufacture of hardwood mouldings in any size or shape, as well as custom hardwood butcher block tops, stair parts and doors. PLM is well-known for their vast stock of domestic, exotic & marine-grade lumber & plywood. On-site services include custom doors, countertops, stair treads & cutting/sanding/re-sawing. PLM is seeking to hire someone with a working knowledge of building materials, interior wood finishes and trim designs.

Training will be conducted at our Detroit HQ, after which the position will be conducted primarily at our Madison Heights location.

1. Provide exceptional customer service:

• Attend to all walk-in customers
• Respond to product inquiries via phone and email
• Complete requested quotes and present to customers
• Process cash and credit card purchases
• Process customer invoices
• Resolve customer complaints and concerns
• Process customer credits and returns
• Assist in building and maintaining relationships with contractor customers by providing superior customer service.

2. Support outside sales efforts:

• Act as a point of contact at the store by supplying advice and information on products, estimates and delivery scheduling.
• Act as a liason between customers and outside sales reps
• Process orders to ensure that materials are available for timely shipment
• Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed
• Other duties as assigned.
• Generate prospects from referrals
• Coordinate customer deliveries
• Place & coordinate special product orders

3. Maintain the appearance of the showroom & merchandise:

• Stock merchandising displays & showroom inventory
• Keep showroom in an orderly, clean, and well-stocked condition.
• Identify out-of-stock items and forward to buyer.
• Organize/replace moved moulding samples in showroom
• Exceptional interpersonal skills is a must
• Ability to excel in a fast paced work environment
• Attention to detail
• Safety consciousness at all times
• Excellent verbal and written skills
• Basic computer proficiency

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
