River Valley Holdings is a family-owned distribution company based in Syracuse, NY, serving retail customers across the northeastern United States. The River Valley family of companies: River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods and Garden Spot Foods, distributes a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products out of warehouses in Syracuse, NY and New Holland, PA.
The Inside Sales & Customer Service Representative is dedicated to creating unparalleled customer experiences through accurate order processing, effective issue resolution and knowledgeable responses to inquiries. They will be responsible for cultivating and expanding relationships with current customers and potential new customers. The successful candidate can work in a fast-paced environment, effectively balance customer requests and deadlines, enter data quickly and accurately, and build lasting positive relationships with customers and team members to provide exceptional service and deliver outstanding results.
Schedule:In office (not remote) Monday – Friday (8:00am-5:00pm), Sundays as needed for coverage
Wages: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
Essential Functions
- Assist customers and company sales representatives through incoming calls, email, electronic data submissions and postal mail communication
- Conduct outbound calls to customers to generate orders
- Process customer orders and credits including data entry and accuracy review.
- Create and maintain documentation and reports to ensure the smooth flow of communication to various departments
- Build lasting customer relationships through positive communication and resolution of concerns
- Leverage knowledge of sales, logistics, and available products to provide reliable service and meet customer requirements
- Review exception reports and resolve issues and discrepancies prior to order processing
- Proactively recommend add-ons and utilize a variety of available sales tools to enhance customer orders and drive increased account profitability
- Provide accurate and timely information to customers regarding product features, pricing, and availability
- Stay updated on industry trends and market needs and conditions
- Review monthly sales reports vs budgets
- Adhere to designated timelines for multiple daily interdepartmental tasks
- Submit information to Accounting for timely credit processing
- Partner with the Sales and Transportation teams to coordinate delivery and Customer support
- Resolve processing, shipping, and order conflicts; troubleshoot customer and driver concerns to meet service requirements
- Engage in customer support tasks as needed including distribution of monthly price change tags and notices to customers
- Seamlessly handle numerous and varied daily tasks
- Perform additional job duties as required
Requirements and Qualifications
- Associate degree preferred or equivalent level of education and related experience
- At least two (2+) years of experience in a Customer Service role
- Proven experience in a sales related role
- Ability to build rapport and establish relationships with customers
- Proven Customer Service skills and a proactive approach to problem solving
- Goal-oriented mindset with a strong drive to achieve and exceed set target goals
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Strong data entry skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Established time management skills and demonstrated ability to consistently meet deadlines
- Ability to adapt and manage numerous, competing priorities
