SUMMARY:The Inpatient Medical Director oversees and directs the activities and functions of the Inpatient Medical staff, including physicians and advanced practice providers. This role requires the physician to be licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine, who is board certified in Internal Medicine. The Inpatient Medical Director must have experience providing addiction and mental health services in a variety of treatment settings.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:- Oversee all medical care and direct the activities and functions of the Inpatient Medical staff.
- Supervise and monitor staff physicians and advanced practice providers and work with them to insure the delivery of quality care.
- Develop and implement clinical policies, procedures and protocols relative to medical issues affecting addiction treatment.
- Educate the medical and clinical staff via case reviews, quality improvement reviews and in-service meetings.
- Provide direct clinical services in accordance with approved clinical privileges, including off hours coverage when necessary.
- Interact with managed care organizations and other health professionals to maximize the delivery of quality care.
- Participate on the Medical Committee and other committees as assigned by the President/CEO.
- Represent Gosnold to the medical community and advance the interests of the organization with the larger community of physicians on and off Cape.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, Experience, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform the job.
- Education: Medical degree, Ph.D. or comparable degree.
- Experience: Five (5) to eight (8) years of experience in the clinical administration of a multi-site addiction treatment program. Experience should include direct patient care and progressively higher supervisory responsibility.
- Skills: An understanding and working knowledge of current addiction clinical concepts and practices.
Ability to work with, support, and supervise a multidisciplinary treatment team in the areas of medical need, infection control and overall patient care. Demonstrated ability to coordinate addiction medical services for patients across a continuum of clinical care.
- Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Physician licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine, who is board certified in Internal Medicine/Family Medicine or board eligible. If board eligible, certification must be obtained within three years of the date of hire.
