ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Office of Innovation and Performance is seeking to fill two Innovation and Data Intern positions. These positions will be responsible for conducting surveys, research and analysis for a wide range of innovation and performance projects, providing administrative and technical assistance on substantive issues to a wide variety of audiences through presentations, on-site assistance, written materials, e-mails, and teleconferences.
The Innovation Interns will be responsible for conducting data collection and quality assurance activities, supporting the management of the City Manager's Performance Dashboard. The individuals will also collaborate with city staff and community partners to develop community solutions aimed at improving livability for city residents, leveraging a human-centered approach to ensure that solutions align with the needs and expectations of community stakeholders. Reporting to the Director of Innovation or the Innovation and Data Manager, the selected candidates must be customer-centric, self-directed and work independently. They must also possess effective communication skills, being able to communicate both orally and in writing, to provide direction and support on projects. In addition, the individuals must be able to acquire and maintain a working knowledge of leveraging spreadsheets, word-processing and presentation software to completed associated projects and tasks.
This position is part-time and is non-classified.
SALARY
The pay for this position is $20.02 per hour.
BENEFITS
Part-time employees are eligible for earned paid sick time, city training, and free or discounted bus and light rail fares.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in public administration, social work or a related field.
- Interest in community development, human-centered design thinking and/or community research.

- Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- One year of experience related to the position's areas of specialization, which can include educational experience.
- Knowledge and experience with program evaluation and/pr data analytics.
- Experience in performance management, continuous improvement or a related field.
- Ability to craft and provide presentations for a wide variety of audiences.
- Experience working as part of a group.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- Ability to take initiative, solve problems and exercise good judgement.
- Human Centered Design experience.
