MUST HAVE INJECTION MOLDING EXPERIENCE TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION

SUMMARY:

This position involves detailed and technical disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of complex plastic Injection Mold tooling.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONISIBILTIES:

Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintain an appropriate preventative maintenance (PM) schedule for every Injection Mold currently in production.
  • Clean and clock molds at regular intervals.
  • Change molds and secondary equipment on a pre-scheduled basis, or when called for based on observation.
  • Provide appropriate maintenance to molds and secondary equipment on a regular schedule.
  • Interpret data from engineering prints and drawings.
  • Perform repairs to molds by using workshop tooling and machinery. i.e., lathes, mills, grinders, welders, drills, etc.
  • Coordinate activities with Production Supervisor and Production Manager to minimize downtime.
  • Complete production PM’s as required.
  • Address scrap and productivity issues.
  • Write and follow up on work orders.
  • Remove scrap at the end of the shift.
  • Troubleshoot plastics process issues.
  • Attend training courses deemed necessary by management.
  • Forklift Certification (This certification can by acquired in house).
  • International and domestic travel as required.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience within plastic Injection Molding, including assembly and disassembly of plastic Injection Molds.
  • Safe operation of workshop tooling and machinery (lathes, mills, grinders, welders, drills, etc.)

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

The ability to use a large variety of hand and power tools. The ability to accurately control manual cutting machines such as a mill or lathe. The candidate must have a general understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) as it applies to part and tool designs and especially to engineering prints.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

The ability to read, analyze and interpret machine operating work instructions and/or procedures as well as being able to both follow and give verbal instructions when interacting with maintenance, engineering, or vendors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

The ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Additionally, the employee must be able to apply these mathematical concepts to routine metalworking or “workshop” measurements, such as reading diameters or lengths to an accuracy of a thousandth of an inch (.001”) and/or metric equivalent.

REASONING ABILITY:

The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. The tuned ability to observe, plan, and facilitate fast and effective repairs to tooling of high production importance.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand; move around the plant; handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The associate is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to adjust focus.

  • While performing the duties of this job in the production area, the associate occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the production area is usually loud.
  • The facility is climate controlled and usually stays at room temperature
