Job description

Quality Liquid Feeds, Inc is looking for team-oriented individual who is ready to help us feed the world. We are hiring an Ingredient Sourcing & ProcurementAnimal Nutrition. You will be responsible for working with the team to purchase and coordinate logistics, of essential ingredients in a cost effective and efficient manner to storage points, manufacturing sites, and final sale destinations either as end products or for their future use in feeds or direct sales.


What You’ll Be Doing:

  • You will help coordinate ingredient procurement activity for all 17 + Employer-owned facilities, follow ingredient markets and initiate price list changes accordingly, help the development of business relationships with suppliers, identify and manage financial as well as supply quality and timeliness of ingredients
  • Continually follow ingredient markets and initiate price list changes accordingly
  • Collaborate with departments to provide timely and accurate information required by them to perform their jobs in a manner that promotes efficiency, accuracy, and teamwork:
  • Marketing – develop and implement booking programs for individual customer, sales region, or company-wide efforts
  • Manufacturing – establish just-in-time inventory methods whenever possible
  • Sales – develop and maintain competitor information regarding pricing differentials between Employer’s products and Competitor’s products
  • Technical – utilize alternative or new ingredients and become familiar with formulas
  • Transportation – arrange usage of company-owned vehicles for transporting ingredients at the same, or better than, third party rates
  • Wholesale – determine quantities and purchase prices of any ingredients needed in excess of manufacturing needs to be sold to Wholesale’s customers
  • Provide monthly summary reports to President regarding purchase and logistics activities, movements in markets, new ingredients, bookings, rail and barge activities, opportunities, challenges, etc.
  • Review and approve payables for all ingredients purchased, as well as the freight associated with each purchase
  • Participate as a key member of:
    • New Product Development Team and Quality Assurance Program
    • Corporate Executive Council (CEC) – provide up-to-date information on Ingredient Procurement/Logistics Department
  • Attend and contribute to various company meetings, if requested – National Sales Meeting, Regional Sales Meetings, etc.
  • Rate suppliers based on quality, price, timeliness, supply, etc.

You’ll be a great fit if:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or significant procurement experience, preferably in the agriculture/commodity environment.
  • If you have an agricultural background
  • If you have knowledge of commodity pricing
  • Ability to work in and promote a team environment
  • Strong understanding of the agriculture/commodity/manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proven successful experience in accounting, record keeping, phone, email, internet, Microsoft Word, Excel; along with exception verbal and written forms of communication.
  • Must be able to multi-task, prioritize, work under deadlines, and function well as part of a team. Must have strong analytical skills with experience in financial or cost modelling and the proven ability to build effective team and supplier relationships.
