Job description

Are you looking for a fast-paced and challenging position that will provide you with extremely valuable developer experience, extensive variety, and frequent exposure to managers and staff in the Information Technology Branch? The Employment Development Department (EDD) is looking for a highly motivated and qualified individual to work in the Product Development Division (PDD) of the Information Technology Branch (ITB). The Information (IT) Technology Specialist II works as Lead Architect in EDD's Product Development Division (PDD) to plan and strategize for technical projects in support of the Unemployment Insurance Online (UIO) application. This position is also responsible for the long term and short-term implementations, maintenance and operations of the UIO application, the architecture it operates within, including but not limited to, interfaces, connecting interfaces, environments, sensitive and confidential data management. The incumbent is responsible for troubleshooting critical component and interface transactional failures. In addition, this development position supports complex technical tasks and activities for the UIO system including, but not limited to, environment support, build deployments, source code management and version control. This technical/development role also supports UI Online interfaces, such as BizTalk, SOA, Web services, SSIS, and other interfaces as required
This position is headquartered in Sacramento, CA and may be eligible for telework under EDD's telework policy. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office, as needed. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.
Telework may be available at your home where access to high-speed internet would be required.
Position is located at EDD's Headquarters office at 800 Capitol Mall, Sacramento, California.

Statement of Qualifications Requirements
A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is Required. The SOQ serves as documentation of each candidate's ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. The SOQ is not a resume or cover letter.
The SOQ will be considered the first phase of the hiring process for this position. If your qualifications are competitive, you will be invited to an interview. The SOQ should be typed and not more than two pages in length, not less than 12 point font, single-spaced, with margins not less than one inch, including your first and last name at the top of the page.
  • Describe your experience as a developer and your technical duties during the past year. Specifically, describe the project and role you played as a developer and/or technical lead.

    Background Investigation Requirement
