What you will do: This position will provide technical support to the Employment and Economic Assistance Department within Dakota County. This classification is responsible for implementing and managing databases and assisting with implementation of Information Systems; assisting with problem diagnosis and resolution; processing requests for user authorization, hardware connections, and report processing; collecting and managing data; and developing training materials for, and delivering training to, groups and individuals.

Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Information Technology, Office Administration or related field; AND
- Two years experience in computerized Information Systems, office administrative or customer service field: AND
- A valid driver's license
- An equivalent combination of education and experience to total 4 years, AND
- A Valid driver's license
Duties & Responsibilities
These examples do not include all possible tasks in this work and do not limit the assignment of related tasks in any position of this classification. Regular attendance according to the position's management approved work schedule is required for all positions.
- Administer and maintain Information Technology Systems and equipment, install and maintain a variety of software programs, maintain department web pages, serve as primary liaison with IT Department.
- Perform staff and customer training on all equipment.
- Operate and maintain a computerized Work Order System; provide management reports.
- Perform various departmental duties; provide weekly reports, assist with performance appraisals and payroll duties.
- Share various administrative assistant duties, including periodic work at other County buildings.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities and Work Environment
- Knowledge of computer hardware and software and ability to apply acquired knowledge and translate to changing business needs.
- Understand the concepts and issues related to the integration and interfacing of various software systems and system components.
- Knowledge of wide area networks, networking, cabling, and communications equipment.
- Ability to use effective presentation skills and speak before trainees.
- Possesses thorough understanding of the Microsoft 365.
- Ability to translate and communicate technical information in layman language.
- Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal), and be able to adapt communication style to the audience.
- Ability to maintain composure and use tact in stressful circumstances, and demonstrate customer service oriented behavior.
- Understands adult learning styles and possesses basic knowledge of training methods.
- Ability to use good judgment in decision-making, and make decisions that affects others.
- Ability to manage and balance changing priorities and to easily shift between tasks.
- Ability to write and edit basic technical training materials.
Work is performed in a county office building. Some travel is required. Lifting requirement of up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis. Equipment used may include, but is not limited to, computer, telephone, printer, copy and fax machines.
