Job Description
The Information Systems Manager will oversee the IT department within an organization. They will work closely with their team to troubleshoot IT problems, administer computer system updates as well and install hardware and software for different departments.
The Information Systems manager oversees the use of technology in a business or organization. Their primary role is to design, manage, and monitor Information Systems. Typical duties of an Information Systems manager include:
- Overseeing a team of specialists who install and maintain hardware and software upgrades
- Working closely with their team to troubleshoot IT problems
- Administering computer system updates
- Installing hardware and software for different departments
- Overseeing budgets and information security
- Implementing new technology as needed
- Analyzing and reporting on the functionality of IT systems
- Consulting colleagues to ascertain needs and to ensure that facilities meet user or project requirements
- Selecting and purchasing hardware and software
- Managing projects and the installation of new systems
- Upgrading a company's existing networks and programs to continually accommodate changing security protocols
- Training company employees in the use of any newly implemented technologies
Information systems managers typically need a bachelor's degree in computer and information technology or a related field, such as engineering technologies. These degrees include courses in computer programming, software development, and mathematics.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University
Expereince:
Five (5) years of expereince in managing technology and information resources is preferred. The experience should include project management skills, including experience managing customer relations as well as monitoring technology services level agreements. Should also have experience in design development, implementation, and coordinating policies in the following areas, information technology to assure data accuracy, security, legal and regulatory compliances. Experience should include managing data network and telecommunications systems, and managing IT infrastructure including systems, help desk, server, and printer.
