Overall Position Summary and Objectives
Work Details:
- Provide technical recommendations and expertise in adopting and applying data and metadata standards. 1
- Aids developers and analysts in applying ontologies and terminologies in tool and method development 2
- Support the development and modifications to biomedical ontologies and terminologies 3
- Interface with external collaborators on the development of ontologies and data standards of relevance to NIEHS 4
- Provide project management guidance and assistance to specific projects and activities. 5
- Provides technical experience needed to perform analyses, processing and user support of various computer systems using standard statistical procedures and techniques.
- Sets up and uses various computer systems and software packages.
- Provide software solutions across diverse scientific applications including large and complex multi-component resources.
- Work with staff on the evolving infrastructure, data engineering pipeline, and data science stacks.
- Supports the use of systems to collect, organize, and apply standardized terminologies and ontologies.
- Compiles and manages data and assists with quality control.
- Utilize knowledge of data structure, data management and various programming language.
- Support efforts to curate data and metadata for data management systems
- Produces various reports, graphs and figures for presentation.
- Present results in graphical using appropriate language.
- Prepare research data for presentation and manuscripts.
- Trains users in applying systems and analysis methods.
- Educate users in the use of the tools and reports.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate formal and informal training on the value and use of common terminologies, ontologies, common data elements, and scientific data and knowledge management systems
- Maintains systems software as well as hardware and security configurations.
- Help maintain institutional and community data and metadata standards to support interoperability of data systems and integration of data.
- Maintains interface software between multiple computer environments to ensure smooth operation and communication.
- Work with data users to define, prioritize and implement metadata standards across systems.
- Develops new programs and systems as needed.
- Create system documentation, electronic templates and examples, training materials and presentations.
- Develop scripts to automate data processing pipelines.
- Research new technologies, standards and systems to improve existing products and websites.
- Coordinates data storage and mining.
- Support and coordinate efforts to incorporate data and metadata standards in data storage and mining systems and tools.
