Responsibilities
· Answer customer questions or refer to appropriate staff. Attempt to resolve customer complaints and if necessary, contact Manager-on-Duty.
· Answer and route phone calls, take and route messages as needed.
· Explain benefits of membership and sign up new members.
· Answer questions on member equity status from database in terminal.
· Sign up customers for co-op sponsored classes or other events.
· Issue credits to customers for returned items or refer to appropriate staff ensure that returns are properly disposed of and shrink promptly and accurately recorded.
· Help customers with placing special orders.
· Call customers when special orders are delivered, from information provided by receivers.
Other Responsibilities
- Alert Manager-on-Duty to potential shoplifters, disorderly customers or other emergencies.
- Recruit member workers at the desk, maintain sign-up sheets for member work, and maintain record of accumulated work hours.
- Perform other tasks assigned by Front End Manager/MOD/Store Manager.
Job Qualifications
· At least 6 months of cashiering or other employment at the co-op.
· Ability to stay calm under pressure.
· Ability to project a friendly, outgoing personality.
· Familiarity with natural foods and co-op's information resources.
· Experience serving the public.
· Communications skills: good listener, clear instructions.
