Industrial Painter

The Industrial Painter supports the manufacturing schedule to produce quality turboexpanders and subsequent components in a timely manner.

The compensation range based on skill for this position is $22.46 - $30.27 hourly. What we expect of you:

  • You'll read and understand ACMTC drawings and procedures related to the job
  • Work closely with engineers and managers to report deficiencies requiring attention
  • Support workload to meet production requirements
  • Support the movement of materials for paint process
  • Maintain records and product quality according to standards and procedures
  • Sandblast, steam clean, mask, unmask, heat treat or condition all parts requiring paint or Xylan
  • Determine paint flow, viscosity, and coating quality by performing visual inspections
  • Observe the operation of the spray guns, gauges, and other equipment to detect defects or deviations from standards, and adjust as necessary
  • Perform paint touch-ups
  • Select appropriate coatings according to specifications and procedures
  • Mix substances according to formulas, using manufacturer recommendations
  • Spray various coatings such as solvent-based inorganic zinc, and primer coat, 2-part epoxy polyamide primer coat, aliphatic polyurethane topcoat, Carboline topcoats, Xylan 1010/440 to inlet guide vanes and expander followers as required by job requirements
  • You are able to drive a forklift
  • Disassemble, clean, repair, adjust and reassemble painting equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance to paint and sandblast equipment
  • You are able to wear PPE (full face respirator, nitrile gloves, leather gloves, sand blast equipment, etc.)
  • Change particulate filters for supplied-air respirator
  • Calibrate CMS (carbon monoxide monitor)
  • Change paint booth filters and maintain records according to ACMTC procedures
  • Create a Paint material list (BOM for a project)
  • Create a supply list of consumables (thinner, sandpaper, needle guns, paint coveralls etc.,) as needed
  • Use tools such as a tube bender, band saw, drill motors, portable and stationary grinders, iron worker, belt sander, impact tool, measuring devices, wrenches, hammer, etc.
  • Other tasks as directed by supervisor

Qualifications Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • You have a positive attitude, and are a team player
  • You have a minimum 5 to 6 years experience as an Industrial Painter or in a related process. Experience in a manufacturing environment is helpful.
  • You pay attention to job details.
  • The ability to speak, read, and understand spoken/written English is required
  • The ability to understand MSDS and follow product instructions.
  • You can modify your approach based on changing situations/prioritize your work
  • Maintains 5S Program (i.e., well organized, clean work area and common areas)

Essential Functions/Working Conditions:

  • Available to work Overtime as needed, up to 12-hour shifts Monday - Friday, Saturdays, and some Sundays.
  • Indoors and outdoors manufacturing facility
  • Loud noises each time a machine is tested
  • Cool temperatures, exhaust fumes, chemicals (organic vapors), wind and dust, oil, water, and solvents

  • Half and Full-face respirators
  • Shovel and push broom
  • Cutting tools
  • Ironworker
  • Small hand tools
  • Forklift
  • Steam cleaner
  • Abrasive blast suit
  • Sandblast helmet
  • Painter's coveralls
  • Ability to lift up to 10-25 lbs.
  • You are able to climb around, over, and under equipment, bend frequently, kneel, and reach to conduct work
  • You may stand for long periods of time, climbing ladders and handling and assembling small parts.

What you will learn:

  • You will learn multiple ACMTC paint processes including paint preparation requirements, paint mix ratios, Xylan Paint process, and how to read/understand paint procedures/instructions
  • You'll learn about the Sandblast process and how to maintain all paint equipment used.
  • You will learn how to maintain accurate counts of job and stock paint including paint used and paint disposal

How Success is measured:

  • Completing assigned tasks and assignments in the time duration given.
  • Utilizing a minimum of 40 hours of training on skid on learning and developing in our manufacturing processes.
  • Supporting and working the hours needed to complete our assigned jobs.

About the Team:

You will report to the Fabrication Supervisor and work with a large team directly on our Turboexpander products.
