Job Summary/Position Objective
The Mechanic I is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of facility machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Proficiency in basic principles of mechanical troubleshooting and repair (able to perform the task with no supervision)
- Knowledge of the basic principles of (has had training, but has not proven proficiency and sometimes requires supervision of task):
- Inspection and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment
- Mechanical Installation of facility machinery
- Root cause analysis and counter measure
- Product quality analysis
- Preventative maintenance process of facility machinery
- Operation monitoring of facility machinery
- Basic equipment fabrication
- Fabrication of repair parts and solutions
- Troubleshooting and repair of:
- Optical Sortation
- Crushers and Screeners
- Compressed Air and Dryers
- Organic Removal Systems
- Metal Remove (Fe and NonFe)
- Conveyance
- Create and ensure environment of safety for self and others
- Complete daily maintenance and repair logs
- Maintain a clean work area
- Maintain and secure work tools
- Other duties as assigned
Education & Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED preferred
- Ability to manage time and prioritize effectively
- Team player, able to lead and contribute to a team effort
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Analytical problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- 1-3 years of maintenance experience preferred
- Able to work safely and efficiently
- Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics preferred
- Glass processing knowledge is a plus
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Must be able to perform above listed duties
- Exposure to a dusty and noisy environment that can be very hot or cold
- Required to perform mixture of light, moderate, and heavy physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a productive technical nature.
- Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. 50 % bend, stoop, twist, reach, and climb steps. Up to 75% walking or standing required.
- Regularly required to handle tools, machinery equipment, welding equipment, and large and small mechanical parts. Regular fine hand manipulation and required to write and type on a computer keyboard. Manual dexterity required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $29.00 per hour
