How You Will Spend Your Time
As an Industrial Field Service Technician, you will install machinery and equipment in industrial establishments using layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings, as well as repair, replace, and dismantle machinery and heavy equipment. You will determine the best location for machines, assemble machinery by welding, fitting bearings, aligning gears and wheels, and attaching motors and connecting belts according to the manufacturer's blueprints and drawings. You will assist in the startup and training of new systems, as well as analyze, locate, and repair technical field problems as requested by customer service calls or defects occurring in the field system or over the phone.
Things that are Important to Have
Below are some requirements for this role:
  • Install new and used sawmilling systems 30%
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical problems on new and used equipment in field and Troubleshoot High Voltage and Low voltage DC; up to 480 Volt AC 20%
  • Install/Fit new and used single processing units into existing sawmilling systems 10%
  • Train and assist with equipment operation in sawmill system start-ups 10%
  • Document commissioning of equipment once installation is finished 10%
  • Provides issue resolution and troubleshooting to our customers over the phone. 10%
  • Field welding and fabrication 10%

Additional Responsibilities
  • Maintain Safety policies (safety glasses, ear protection, steel toe shoes).
  • 60% Travel is required. Weekends may be included. Travel will be mostly domestic but on occasion internationally.
  • Keep the work area clean and orderly.
  • Conduct product demonstrations for the Sales Dept. at Commercial/Industrial Shows.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Technical school completion is preferred

WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience in a mechanical type of FIELD SERVICE role or similar 1-3 Years
  • Mechanical FIELD SERVICE role of material handling systems and equipment 1-3 Years
  • Hydraulic system experience (troubleshooting and rebuilding components). 1-3 years

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • Strong background and experience in site preparation, equipment alignment and installation
  • Ability and willingness to learn and adapt to new machines being installed or troubleshooting existing.
  • Self-starter and self-motivated. Must be able to initiate and complete site work unsupervised.
  • Must be a team player and able to work closely with engineers, project managers, sales, and customers alike.
  • Resourcefulness in finding solutions to problems with regards to mechanical issues with equipment and able to communicate controls issues with controls specialists. Needs to be tenacious and not results oriented.
  • Candidate should be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, repeatedly, and able to crawl and work in tight spaces (up to 50 lbs. by self)
  • Ability to travel on short notice and to travel for extended periods of time. (60% travel position). Domestic and International. Extensive Travel required is extended stays.
  • CAD Experience not required but nice to have.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills.
