About the position:

 

This is a full-time year round position working at the Grand Canyon Railway in Williams, AZ. Train Electrician II is a mid-level to advance electrician position responsible for diagnosing electrical problems using various meters and related equipment, tests, inspects, and repairs electrical systems on locomotives, passenger cars, facilities and equipment. Acts as Lead Train Electrician when supervisor or manager is unavailable.

Responsibilities

• Fully understand and support Xanterra Mission Statement and Core Values.
• Working under the broad guidelines established by the Supervisor; inspect, maintain, and repair a variety of electrical equipment.
• Cut, thread, bend, assemble and install conduits and other types of electrical conductor enclosures and fittings on buildings, locomotive, passenger cars and equipment.
• Pull wire through conduits and make connectors.
• Test, inspect, and properly repair systems on locomotives, passenger cars, facilities, and equipment.
• Read electrical schematics and construction plans.
• Diagnose electrical problems using various meters and related equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Knowledge of electrical concepts normally acquired through 3 years of related experience.
• Must possess a valid/clear Arizona Driver's License and comply with Xanterra/GCR Vehicle/Equipment Policy.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience as an electrician in an industrial or railroad setting.

Basic Competencies:

• Verbal comprehension (Understand oral and written communications, follow detailed directions).
• Common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.
• Communication skills (provide clear instructions/directions)
• Reasoning skills (problem solving and troubleshooting skills)
• Basic computer literacy and knowledge of common programs such as MS Office.

• Work in confined spaces.
• Completes training programs and certifications as required by the position.
• Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek, overtime, on-call and various shift work as needed.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:

• Frequently standing, walking, handling, reaching outward, reaching above shoulder, climbing, crawling, squatting/kneeling, bending/stooping lifting/carrying up to 50lbs, and pushing/pulling up to 25lbs. Twisting, using eye/hand coordination, manual dexterity, using wrist motion, and ascending and descending ladder.
• Occasionally sitting, lifting/carrying up to 100lbs, and pushing/pulling up to 100lbs.
• Constantly listening, hearing, seeing, and speaking.
• Will be required to stand and walk for long periods of time on cement floors and to occasionally walk on uneven surfaces.
