JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• FDOT physical
• DOT 5 panel Drug screening
• Clean Driver's License

If considered for the position, you are to get these requirements prior to start date. These requirements expenses will be reimbursed after two months successful employment.

Job Summary:

The Local Transit Bus Driver will transport Charlotte County residents by bus on regularly scheduled bus routes throughout the county.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Follows a planned bus route, making scheduled stops to pick up or drop off passengers.
• Answers questions about the bus route.
• Communicates with the dispatcher via two-way radio during the route; provides updates to the dispatcher and reports emergencies, traffic patterns, or accidents.
• Assists passengers on and off the bus when help is needed.
• Visually inspects the bus before beginning the days assigned route.
• Reports any mechanical issues with the bus such as brakes, steering, or other issues.
• Prepares an observation report when shift is finished.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to operate a bus safely.
• Extensive knowledge of motor vehicle laws.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Excellent time management skills.

Education and Experience:

• Must be 21 years of age.
• Must have a valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements:

• Must pass a drug screening and physical exam.
• Prolonged periods of operating the bus.
• Must be able to assist passengers when needed.

Job Type: Full-time and two Saturdays per month

Compensation: $16.50 per hour

Schedule: Available from 5:45 am until route ends 8 - 10 hours shift
