Job Description
The Hydrology and Hydraulic Project Manager with Gessner Engineering is responsible for applying knowledge of engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, and coordinate the execution of specialized H&H projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinate project needs with both internal and external collaborators
- Time and Budget/ Resource Management
- Perform/oversee and guide team in the design and analysis for a variety of projects including residential, commercial, higher education, and public infrastructure
- Prepare/ oversee production of construction documents, specifications, cost estimates, and other engineering documents and reports.
- Perform site visits to collect forensics and as-built data and conduct construction administration duties.
- Collaborate in a team setting with department members and other design disciplines such as geotechnical, structural, construction materials testing and external sub-consultants and clients, as necessary, for project coordination.
- Holds a team of EITs and PEs accountable for quality and timeliness of deliverables
- Assigns projects to Design Leads or Project Engineers
- Reviews timesheets and expenses of direct reports
- Develops leadership of direct reports
- Performs QA/QC of designs and documents congruent with experience
- Reviews and seals projects congruent with their experience level
- Generates proposals
- Generates invoicing
- Communicates and coordinates with consultants and AHJ
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of drainage systems
- Lead the drainage design in support of the development of schematic designs
- Perform drainage studies
- Analyze field survey data, maps, drawings, aerial photography, and other topographic data in order to plan projects
- Develop hydraulic models
- Coordinate to ensure project completion within defined scope, quality, and timeline
Qualifications
- Education & Licensure
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Required
- MS Preferred
- Emphasis in hydrology/hydraulics, water resources, or related field preferred
- Professional Engineer license (Texas) required
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Required
- Experience
- At least 5 years of relevant project experience required
- Knowledge of/familiarity with GIS
- Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, PondPack, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, Autodesk SSA, Flowmaster, EPANET, and WaterCAD
- Working knowledge to perform technical analyses, design culvert layouts, permitting requirements, preparing drainage reports, closed storm sewer system design
