Job description

Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical equipment used in hydroelectric generating and pumping plants, as well as associated facilities. Troubleshoots malfunctions of electrical systems and determines corrective actions to be taken. Must be available for off-peak operations, maintenance, and emergency repairs which may require driving a vehicle on public roads throughout the field division. Provide training and oversight of apprentices in safe work practices and practical hands-on experience.
Work is on-site to support the State Water Project.

Department of Water Resources (DWR) was established in 1956 by the California State Legislature. We manage California’s water resources, systems, and infrastructure, including the State Water Project, in a responsible sustainable way.

Ability to read and work from blueprints, wiring diagrams and sketches. Estimate job repair time and equipment needed. Ability to work and communicate well with others in order to complete assigned tasks. Stamina to climb stairs, ladders, or scaffolding. Strength to pull cables, move tooling or equipment up to 50 pounds. Maintain regular, consistent, and predictable attendance.
