This position functions in the Hybrid OR and Endoscopy Unit as an integral member of our team approach to patient care. The Hybrid OR and Endoscopy Radiologic Technologist, in collaboration with physicians and nurses, strives to provide high quality care to every patient coming through the unit. Daily assignments vary due to the range of procedures that may be completed. This position rotates between the South Operating Room and the dual locations of Endoscopy at MPV/CHH2 with call requirements.
South Operating Room (Main OR) is a large 25-bed OR primarily an adult inpatient operating room with a small volume of outpatient procedures including: Cardiac/ Thoracic, General Surgery/Minimally Invasive/ Colorectal/Bariatric, Gynecology, Oral Maxillofacial, Neuro/neuro spine, Orthopedic/orthopedic spine, Otolaryngology, Plastics, Transplant, Urology, Vascular, Robotic (Urology/GYN/Oral), and Trauma. Surgical procedures on infants and children less than 18 years of age are also performed if the procedure requires specialized equipment found only at this location. Endoscopy is a large unit with 8 procedure rooms performing diagnostic and interventional procedures on a wide range of patient populations.
The Hybrid OR and Endoscopy Radiologic Technologist provides direct patient care using medical imaging techniques to help the physicians in diagnosis and/or treatment. Provides assistance with radiographic procedures to demonstrate vascular and non-vascular structures for interpretation and/or therapeutic intervention. Delivers appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. Ensures the radiation safety for all patients as well as the other team members involved in the procedure.
- Assists physician during cases while operating a variety of complex radiologic imaging equipment including fluoroscopy, digital subtraction angiography, and ultrasonography and cone beam CT application.
- Prep the patient and prepare supplies under sterile conditions for the procedure. Scrub in with the physician and assist in performing procedure if needed.
- Accurately obtains x-rays for the exams while being respectful to the patient’s abilities and safety issues.
- In collaboration with other staff, provides patient care during examinations.
- Operates automatic injectors and selects the appropriate contrast agent for the patient and the exam under the direction of the physician.
- Work independently on-call with department physicians and nurse.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
Proven Hybrid OR and Endoscopy technologist knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Radiology license to practice in the State of Oregon thru OBMI.
BLS Certification
License with ARRT.
Compliance with Code of Conduct, Respect in the workplace and Applicable policies, procedures and agreements related to position, department or OHSU as a whole
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
3+ years of experience as a Cath Lab, IR, orHybrid ORRadiologic Technologist supporting complex procedures.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Cardiac Interventional or Vascular Interventional certification from ASRT
Pay Range: $48.14 - $66.10 per hour
- Must be able to deal with competing needs and priorities of internal and external customers, including making correct judgments ensuring safe conditions for patients, families, and other personnel.
- Use of all hospital approved clinical equipment. Significant use of computers, copiers, multi-line phones, and fax.
- Fast paced admit/recovery environment, with often competing priorities and quick turn-over of patients.
- Must have the ability to change work location based upon procedure volumes and staffing needs.
- Assignment includes OR procedures, Endoscopy procedures, inpatient, day patient, outpatient workflows, and three work sites (South Waterfront/CHH2 as well as the south OR and MPV Endoscopy Unit at the Main OHSU Hospital).
- Ability to lift, bend, stoop, reach, carry, push, pull and walk throughout the work period. Able to lift 35 lbs independently. Complies with the safe patient mobilization policy when lifting or positioning dependent patients, including using mechanical lifts and coordinating the assistance of other personnel.
- Must be able to use all senses: seeing, hearing, touching, smelling, and speaking. Reasonable accommodations include corrective lenses and/or hearing aids.
- The work environment carries risk of exposure to human tissue/fluids and radiation.
- Ability to stand up to 6 hours without sitting
- Ability to wear up to 20 lbs of leaded aprons for 6 hours.
- Must have the ability to apply and maintain manual pressure to femoral arterial and venous access sites.
