Job description

Work week: Monday through Friday 

Travel: Yes, once a quarter typically. But some flexibility for urgent matters.

Salary Range: $93,577 to $130,000 + bonus

Education / Certifications: Bachelor’s degree

Required Experience: 

  • High knowledge of compliance standards and employment in Southwest/Southeast states (TX, CO, CA, NC, and AL)
  • Have 12 years of experience in HR, with demonstrated advancement of and desire to grow HR knowledge.
  • Previous HRIS implementation experience

Preferred Experience: 

  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SP designation(s)
  • Experience working for an architectural/environmental consulting firm.

What’s the Opportunity?

The Human Resources team is growing and adding an HR Lead to our Texas region but will also handle the HR functions for other offices outside of TX. The person in this role will work closely with other HR managers and team members to support the overall company HR needs. Due to the size of our organization, our managers handle senior HR generalist responsibilities and will ensure all personnel needs are handled promptly and professionally at a regional level with staff managers. The focus for this role will be employee relations, HR department support and compliance. This role is for someone who values HR as an integral partner to the organization and seeks to be part of a community of people who care for one another personally and professionally.


Responsibilities:

HR Team Partner

  • Work closely with highly collaborative HR team on all department issues.
  • Highly knowledgeable with dealing complex HR issues around compliance, policies, and people development.
  • Will take on special projects to support HR team initiatives and the company goals (Examples: HRIS, Payroll Systems).
  • This role does not oversee other HR team members currently but may in the future

Employee Relations Focus

  • Act as a leadership coach to staff managers – understand each leaders’ strengths and opportunities, build a relationship of trust with the goal to improve leadership across the company.
  • Participate in the hiring process for new employees and recommend salary adjustments as necessary.
  • Collaborate with HR team, management, and other staff when complex, specialized or sensitive questions or issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in highly confidential circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations, and terminations.
  • Use discretion when handling confidential personnel information and situations.
  • Develop job descriptions, talent development plans, and support succession planning efforts with management.
  • Assist leaders to optimize employee capability with a focus on client needs.
  • Implement HR initiatives, strategies, policies, and use systems to document and support the employee journey from hire to retirement.
  • Maintain accurate personnel records and associated data in HRIS system.


Compliance Focus

  • Lead employment and compliance considerations for Southwest and Southeast regions through internal partnerships.
  • Keep company in compliance with FLSA minimum wage regulations, ADA, EEOC, and all other applicable laws.
  • Stay up to date with employment law across several states.


What Are We Looking For?

Ideal candidates will have:

  • In-depth experience with growing mid-size companies, used to working on HR Generalist activities, willing to do various aspects of HR.
  • Desire to work as part of a collaborative, highly engaged team.
  • People-oriented personality (approachable, patient, responsive) and enjoy working closely with others and helping people succeed professionally.
  • Proactive problem solving and strong communication skills.
  • Have proven ability to be flexible, prioritize and handle multiple tasks  at once.
  • Have 12 - 15 Years of experience in HR, with demonstrated advancement of and desire to grow HR knowledge.
  • Strong working knowledge of US employment legislation.
  • BA/ BS or equivalent experience
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SP designation(s)
