Job Description
We are currently looking for an HVAC Technician to join our team in Minneapolis-Saint Paul, MN. This position is responsible for installing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining residential HVAC systems. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated, customer-focused, detail oriented, and able to work with a team to successfully complete a project. It is important to be an expert at handling, installing, and fixing HVAC equipment.
Responsibilities of HVAC Service Technician:
- Complete all demand and non-demand HVAC in-home service calls
- Establish customer rapport and provide the right products and solutions
- Ability to accurately troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment
- Ask proper lifestyle questions to troubleshoot heating and cooling system malfunctions
- Articulate repair and/or replacement opportunities for aging, inefficient or underperforming systems – refer qualified replacement leads to Sales Team
Educate and assist customers in choosing the best finance options and maintenance plans
- Maintain a clean and organized job site representing and protecting the company’s reputation
- Understand service criteria and be accountable for exceeding revenue goals
- Achieve daily revenue goals and required closing rate on calls to the benchmark of the department
- Be accurate and timely with invoices, timecards, curbside feedback and option sheets
- Present yourself as professional and knowledgeable to win new referrals and repeat business
- Maintain clean uniform daily which promotes the McQuillan brand
- Work alongside customer service and dispatch to ensure overall success of the business
- Protect company assets
- Maintain a clean and tidy truck. Receive regular truck washes, oil changes to be completed outside of working hours
- Maintain inventoried truck, as established by McQuillan Bros standards
- Participate actively in all training exercises, morning staff and employee meetings
- Show up on time for calls and all training meetings
- Train and mentor apprentices to ensure timely, accurate repairs and installations.
- Miscellaneous projects assignments at management’s discretion

Qualifications:
- HVAC experience: 2 years (Required)
- High school diploma or GED; college degree preferred
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- A clean driving record; no more than one moving violation in the past 3 years
- Ability to pass a background check, along with physical ability test
- Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of electrical systems (including switches, motors, etc.)
- Ability to read and understand technical documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. In-depth knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations regarding HVAC is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift 50+ pounds regularly, up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Able to climb ladders and work at heights as needed.
- Ability to work in extreme cold/heat/frizzly conditions as well as outside in all weather conditions.
