Hvac Maintenance Technician

Hiring a HVAC Maintenance Technicianat Southwood Interventions on the south side of Chicago.

In this role, you will join a team responsible for keeping our facility operating and repairing any problems when they are discovered before they have a chance to worsen. You will be performing a wide range of repair tasks around our facility such as:

• Assist in the temporary shutdown of the facilitys HVAC equipment, systems, and electrical components necessary for renovation, repair, and new construction projects.

• Install and remove various facility HVAC equipment, systems, and HVAC components.

• Diagnose malfunctions in the facilitys HVAC equipment, systems, or HVAC components and take appropriate corrective and preventative actions.

• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on all facility HVAC and refrigeration equipment, systems, and components in accordance with prescribed procedures.

• Respond to emergency situations such as electrical outages, HVAC equipment failures, ruptured pipe, fires or other hospital codes per hospital and department emergency response plans.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma/GED required. (Associate degree preferred)

• HVAC or maintenance certificate required and 1 year of experience in HVAC field required.

• 2 years of hospital maintenance, construction, or mechanical system experience preferred.

• Must be at least 21 years of age or older.

• Must have a valid active Illinois driver's license.

Pay: $23.00 per hour.

HVAC Maintenance Technician duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Maintaining the building HVAC equipment in order to keep climate control in the facility functioning properly.
• Working on damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occurs.
• Performing routine maintenance around the building such as fixing structural damage, for example, window, door or wall repair.
• Repairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures.
• Applying preventative measures to the building to reduce the risk of future problems.
• Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.

Basic Qualifications & Skills

• At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
• High School Diploma or equivalent, with two years of related experience in the maintenance industry.
• Valid drivers license.
• Working knowledge of local, state and federal regulations as they relate to the maintenance industry.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Ability to work with all types of piping (pvc, copper, black iron, etc.) and the necessary tools required by each type.
• Ability to work with various electrical voltages (120, 208, 12, 277) in the various phases (single and three phase).
• Clear oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle loads of up to 50 pounds.
• Stationary Engineers license - preferred.
• Proper Refrigerant Practice Certification - preferred.
• Certification from American Refrigeration Institute - preferred.
• Journeyman/Apprentice electrician license - preferred.
• Certification in HVAC from a recognized institution.
• Must be flexible regarding scheduling based on business demands, including nights, weekends and Holidays as needed.
• Successful completion of criminal background check and drug screen (we do not test THC levels).
