Excel Services, Inc. is looking for career-orientated HVAC Construction Helpers to perform work on commercial and industrial projects.
Duties include the installation of mechanical and HVAC systems.

Position Summary
- The Mechanical Apprentice works on a team under supervision to execute new construction projects, primarily for commercial spaces, while demonstrating the company's core values.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possession of valid driver’s license with a good record of driving

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Knowledge of the International Mechanical Code (IMC), National Fuel and Gas Code (NFGC), OSHA guidelines, and safe work practices
- Possess effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to distinguish between various HVAC equipment and components
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or within a team
- Ability to work on weekends, at night, or to work overtime as required
Trade Skills
- Assist more experienced mechanical HVAC techs with installation of pipe, motors, compressors, pumps, fans, duct, thermostats, switches and related HVAC fixtures, and equipment
- Gather materials, parts, tools and supplies to be used on jobsite; maintain small tools and equipment, including hammers, wrenches, metal snips, electric drills, pipe cutters / benders, measurement gauges & acetylene torches; install, maintain, repair & test air ducts, air conditioning and refrigerant lines; measure, cut & thread pipe; assist in lifting, positioning & fastening objects, such as ductwork, pipe & equipment; keep work area, tools, parts, material, supplies & equipment clean, secure & in good order; and performing other routine duties, such as checking for leaks and minor repairs to burners, blowers, equipment & switches; disassemble defective equipment and replacing defective or worn parts then reassembling equipment; understand project plans, schedules, and their specific job duties to complete the project, as well as the roles of other trades on the job site; attend all Company meetings; report to work on time / properly attired, and maintain accurate records of work progress, schedules, time sheets, job cost reports, etc.
- Apprenticeship training includes ESI On-The-Job Training, which includes learning the tools, equipment, parts, and material of the trade, basic mechanical HVAC construction methods, and how to read prints, along with how to plan, layout, rough-in, and complete mechanical construction
Essential Duties
- Install mechanical equipment following applicable codes, manufacturer specifications, and company policies
- Provide necessary support to other team members to be able to complete tasks on time as instructed
- Create and maintain cordial and collaborative working relationships with co-workers
- Ensure all paperwork needed for each job is accurately filled
- Comfort with working from elevated platform mobile equipment
- Assess a problem and provide a solution or communicate with the project foreman
- Installing mechanical systems in new build, renovation projects, tenant finish, service, etc
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools and test equipment utilized in the trade
- Display professional company image
- Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions during all seasons
- Must be able to lift 70 lbs safely
- Must be able to climb, stoop, balance, crouch, crawl, or/and kneel continually
- Must be able to remain in a standing position 80% of the time
- Perform any other duty as directed
