Human Services Eligibility Technician B is the journey level classification in the Eligibility Technician series. The Human Services Eligibility Technician B performs complex technical duties in determining initial and ongoing eligibility for public assistance programs provided by Human Services.
This is a full-time, benefited position with Boulder County Housing and Human Services. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. This position will be based out of Longmont and/or Boulder, CO. Under FLSA guidelines, this position is non-exempt.
Remote/Hybrid Work: Boulder County is committed to flexibility as we move into the future of the workplace. This position may be eligible for hybrid work with consideration to individual job responsibilities and the needs of the organization.
Upon acceptance of the job, employees will be required to complete an in-person 10 week training to learn the skills necessary to serve in the role of an Eligibility Technician. Attendance through all 10 weeks is mandatory.
The anticipated start date for this position is 2/12/24. Hybrid/Remote work may start after training around 4/22/24.
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
2024 Hiring Salary Range: $52,464.00 - $64,014.00 Annually

- Gathers and reviews financial and other pertinent information from applicants and clients to use in determining eligibility for public assistance programs.
- Informs applicants and recipients of relevant requirements and program benefits for which they may be eligible.
- Clarifies and interprets to clients their appeal rights and procedures.
- May assist applicants in completing forms and securing documents and other verification needed in completing forms.
- Approves or denies applications and recertifications within required time frames.
- Enters pertinent data into computer systems and uses appropriate systems to gather and verify data on applicants.
- Determines the need for recovery of funds or referral for fraud investigation.
- Learns to apply a lean process improvement framework to work processes to bring increased value to clients.
- Performs related work as required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of a high school graduation or equivalent and two years of experience working with the public.
Additional related education may be considered toward required experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:- One year in a public assistance program
- Working knowledge of public assistance programs and other community agencies that provide assistance to clients
- Skill in communicating verbally and in writing
- Skill in interviewing
- Ability to work effectively with other employees, difficult clients, and the public
