POSITION SUMMARY
The Human Services& Child Welfare Training Specialist supports training needs for Mental and Behavioral Health organizations that serve adults, youth, and their families. The person in this role must have experience working directly with youth or adults in either residential or community-based settings.
This position will require the trainer to assess current training needs, develop materials, and facilitate trainings both online, and in-person for adult learners who work with youth and families.
The Training Specialist will need to ensure effective, timely delivery of projects and meeting business needs. They will identify system, process and workflow enhancements. Finally, and most important, they will inspire our clients to perform at the highest level every day.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Inspire and motivate individuals who work with youth and families to excel in their work.
- Be the "Universal Trainer" that conducts vibrant and engaging training programs for agency employees, which may include new hires, existing employees, and foster parents.
- Be able to gauge when an individual does not understand materials or procedures and provide additional guidance, whether it is one-on-one or assigning materials for review outside of the classroom.
- Take existing training materials and concepts, internalize them and deliver in ways that are authentic to the individual while ensuring to meet current learning objectives.
- While demonstrating flexibility, must be able to update training programs and current processes and procedures based on business needs despite time constraints.
- Willing to take feedback provided and consistently improve training material and maintain a productive relationship with clients.
- Acts as a mentor and leader in the classroom by fostering learning engagement and enthusiasm with a positive attitude.
- Always leads by example and maintains a professional demeanor at all times.
- Able to think outside the box and find quick, effective solutions when dealing with technology or time constraints to ensure a smooth training experience.
Qualifications:
- Certified Crisis Intervention Trainer, is a plus! (TCI, Handle with Care, NCI)
- 3-5 years experience working or leading in a residential or community based setting for at-risk youth is preferred
- Introductory level skills in managing, designing, developing, coordinating and conducting training programs.
- Have a strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite to produce training materials and presentations
- Able to implement new, creative training techniques and activities based on the class skillset and needs
- Clear, effective communicator verbally and in writing with superior interpersonal skills
- Curious, continuously seeking answers and ways to improve the existing training program
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's or above is preferred.
- 3+ years of direct work experience with youth preferred.
- Working experience in behavioral health setting is a plus
- Must have a valid driver's license
