The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Montana State Hospital.
The Montana State Hospital (MSH) in Warm Springs provides inpatient psychiatric treatment for adults with serious mental illness. MSH is the only public psychiatric hospital in Montana that serves people admitted from communities across the state. The Human Resources (HR) Supervisor is responsible for all human resource management for the hospital including strategic planning, recruitment and selection, classification, career ladders, organizational analysis, unemployment insurance, position management, compensation, workers compensation, early return to work, labor relations, training, civil rights, employee relations, FMLA, ADA, EEO, performance management, collective bargaining agreements, and human resource policies and procedures. This position reports directly to the DPHHS' Office of Human Resources in Helena and supervises three onsite staff.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity
- Extensive knowledge of human resource principles and practices related to recruitment and selection, labor and employee relations, employee development, performance management, discipline, and policy development.
- Extensive knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations.
- Ability to research, compile, and analyze data from multiple sources to identify and resolve a wide variety of issues and problems.
- Ability to coach and motivate others to improve their knowledge and skills.
- Ability to be understanding and remain nonconfrontational, while maintaining focus, demeanor, and composure in dealing with individuals with different points of view.
- Meet minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field.
- 5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
- 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Experience working in a healthcare environment preferred.
- Preferred: Professional Human Resources Certification (SHRM / HRCI) and State of Montana Classification Certification.
- Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
