Job Description:

POSITION TITLE: Human Resources Generalist, Onboarding Specialist

PRIMARY LOCATION: Fall River 

REPORTS TO: Manager of Employee Benefits and Compensation 

POSITION TYPE: This is a full-time, non-unit position, with benefits.

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8:30 am-5:00 pm, onsite (one telework day per week may be allowed but is not guaranteed).

SALARY: $62,367.67 - $68,842.24, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Human Resources Generalist position supports employees through several key departmental processes with primary focus on compliance tasks and the onboarding of new employees.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Handle onboarding for all full-time and part-time employees, including but not limited to, I9 management, CORI/SORI process, background checks, collection of required licenses and educational credentials, and data entry into the various systems. 
  • Serve as subject matter expert for the onboarding of new employees and related compliance matters.
  • Support the development of policies, protocols, and practices that strengthen the college's ability to recruit, retain, and promote a diverse workforce. 
  • Provide support as necessary to the Manager of Employee Benefits and Compensation and other members of the team and act as backup in their absence as needed. 
  • Process Personnel Action Forms in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate a sense of professionalism and consistently reflect Bristol's core values while interacting with members of the Bristol community. 
  • Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 


Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree.*
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a professional office environment.*
  • * An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience shall be considered.
  • Experience in an HR environment and handling employee onboarding tasks. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications. 
  • Strong experience in - and aptitude for - navigating complex database systems. 
  • Highly organized and able to work both quickly and accurately to manage a seasonally heavy workload. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, excel in a fast-paced environment, adapt to organizational change, and meet established goals. 
  • The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff and a commitment to equity practices. 
  •  Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  •  Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information. 
  •  Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment and work independently as required. 
  •  Reliable transportation for in-person work. 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated experience in a Human Resources environment.
  • Demonstrated experience within a higher education environment, preferably within a Massachusetts state college or university. 
  • Demonstrated experience using computer software applications applicable to a higher education environment, such as but not limited to Banner, Argos, Interview Exchange, or HR/CMS. 
  • Understanding of and commitment to the goals and values of a community college. 
  • Ability to communicate in a language in addition to English.
