We are looking for a Human Resource Specialist who is passionate about people and eager to learn about the different aspects of HR to join our team! This role will provide support in a variety of Human Resources functions, including recruitment and onboarding, training, Human Resources information systems (HRIS), processing personnel transaction, and assistance with employee relations questions/concerns. As a Human Resource Specialist, you serve integral functions and provide support to our core business of creating shared experiences and stories for all who visit Playland. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initiate and/or respond to inquiries concerning non-routine and unusual Human Resources issues.
  • Partner with HR leadership and management staff to communicate and develop programs to meet the needs of Playland.
  • Serves as the first point of escalation on employee relations questions and issues, providing guidance, support and solutions to managers and employees in line with policy and procedures.
  • Interpret policies and procedures and investigate issues obtaining information from higher-level Human Resources staff and/or referring as appropriate.
  • Participate in project teams to develop and implement Human Resources policies, programs, or process changes.
  • Work alongside the HR leadership to facilitate new hire onboarding.
  • May present training and/or information programs to groups of employees.
  • Ensuring all employee records are maintained and updated with new hire information or changes in employment status.
  • Assist with the developing of recruiting plan that includes, but is not limited to, on campus signage, tabling, digital ads, etc.
  • Attending recruitment functions to attract talented individuals to our organization, this includes short-range travel, virtual event attendance, and hours that may fall in the early morning or evening on occasion.
  • Assists with projects, as assigned by HR management, including, but not limited to, office supply inventory, personnel file reviews, employment reports, and reward and recognition programs.
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety in the work area and performs all duties in compliance with company safety guidelines and requirements and reports all unsafe or unusual conditions to supervision.
  • Helps foster a positive work environment by assisting HR leadership with a visible HR presence, continuous care for employee needs, and boosting morale with positive reinforcement of individual efforts.
  • Assists HR leadership with the onboarding process, and the tracking of training programs for employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or two years minimum related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven work experience as a HR Specialist or in a similar role is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster a collaborative environment and build strong team relations while driving strong internal and external customer relations.
  • Proficiency with MS Office products is essential, and a working knowledge of HRIS systems; Paycom preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of all Federal Labor Laws and Federal Wage and Hour Laws.
  • Ability to multitask and manage through competing priorities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of Human Resources work.
  • Ability to provide exceptional service when interacting with team members, coworkers, and others.
  • Flexible scheduling with some ability to work nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and rapidly changing office/amusement park environment.
  • Willingness to assist in the park operations when/where needed.
