Job Title: Human Resource Manager
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer
FLSA Status: Exempt
Department: Human Resources
Summary: With guidance from EMSI, Inc. (EMI) Executive Team, the Human Resource Manager manages the efficient operation of Human Resources to provide excellent service to EMSI, Inc. employees. The Human Resource Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining EMSI, Inc personnel structure including recruitment, pay, benefits, development of team, and retention. Human Resource Manager also oversees and maintains all aspects of personnel administration in addition to coordinating and implementing EMSI, Inc personnel policies. Human Resource Manager is proficient in customer service, wage and salary administration, benefits administration, personnel data maintenance, workers’ compensation administration, OSHA regulations, BWC policy and procedures. Works in cooperation with COO, Vice President of Operations, CFO, Controller, EMSI, Inc Executive Team, Director of Employee Development, Assets Manager, EMI Account Managers, Division Operation Managers / Department Managers, Employee Services Specialist and the Payroll and Benefits Manager with process efficiency, quality, and employee satisfaction as top priority.

- Determine the priorities, goals and objectives of work functions assigned to Human Resources *
- Employee Engagement and Retention*
- Maintains sound employee relations through consistent personal contact.
- Employee Relations*
- Strengthen manager-employee relationships.
- Sustain healthy employee relationships through identifying and resolving any workplace issue or misconduct.
- Ensure there is fair and consistent treatment to all employees, so they are committed to their jobs and loyal to EMI.
- Manage Personnel Structure*
- Plan, develop and implement effective plan for seasonal ramp up.
- Inform management of any shifts in manpower levels, potential legal problems, pending terminations, pending retirements and other related situations.
- Implement processes and procedures for efficient manpower reduction during seasonal shift.
- Personnel Administration*
- Responsible for being familiar with federal, state and local statutes involving employee selection and labor relations.
- Utilization of HRIS.
- Manage state unemployment claims.
- Completes all employment verification forms.
- Manage EMI uniform program.
- Wage and Salary Administration
- Responsible for being familiar with federal, state and local statutes involving payroll, employee selection and labor relations.
- Support Payroll and Benefits Manager as needed.
- Quality Control
- Responsible for systematically auditing the following:
- Uniform program invoices.
- Analyses all Coachings.
- Analyses all reviews and performance improvement plans.

Education/Experience:
Baccalaureate Degree required (Human Resource Baccalaureate Degree Preferred)
Professional in Human Resources (PHR) preferred.
Prior customer service, diversified business, personnel administration, and/or personnel management related experience required. Wage and salary administration experience preferred. Experience in effective oral and written communication necessary.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Ability to communicate with Spanish speaking employees required.
Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Equipment:
Personal computers, multimedia data entry, scanning and retrieval systems, time keeping systems. Fundamental understanding of landscape industry equipment preferred.
Computer Skills:
Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Email and etiquette
Proficient with various Human Resource, Payroll and Time Keeping systems
Exak Time familiarity a plus
Netsuite familiarity a plus
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Advisor to the Executive Team on matters involving personnel structure, personnel administration, personnel policies, workers’ compensation administration, and state unemployment administration.
