Position Summary

Acts as the subject matter expert for escalated point of contact for all investigative matters for the assigned regions within the brand. Provides advice and counsel to management with concerns on regional, store, or department-level associates. Maintains accurate records of all interactions in the case management system for associate relations concerns, completes research and in-depth analysis, and makes recommendations to business leaders to ensure investigations are completed fairly and consistently. Provides functional, technical and process guidance to ensure the company's treatment of associates is fair, respectful, and consistent with our core values and policies promoting positive working relationships and driving associate engagement with the brand's business and priorities.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads and/or conducts investigations in the assigned area to resolve potential internal and external causes for associate concerns while maintaining organization's core values.
  • Documents, collects, and maintains investigative files and evidence that support investigative findings and results in the case management system and other applications as appropriate, within scheduled timeframes and with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Partners with management, legal and outside consultants to ensure necessary compliance and develop positive, proactive relationships.
  • Interprets policy and procedures consistently and objectively.
  • Collaboratively creates ownership and compliance with all federal and state laws and company policies including but not limited to: Safety, Wage and Hour, EEO, OSHA, ADA, Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, FMLA, etc.
  • Collaborates with manager, Operations, Human Resources, Legal, and other internal business partners on Loss Prevention and Risk Management issues, and recommends appropriate courses of action.
  • Influences the creation and implementation of proactive measures to enhance associate engagement, creating a pro-associate environment.
  • Implements and ensures appropriate application of Delhaize America's associate relations conflict resolution programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Handles all ADA accommodation requests, documenting the interactive process and all outcomes in the system.
  • Acts as a liaison between the Company and government agencies as directed by the legal department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of a variety of the HR concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • General understanding of state and federal laws associated with Employee Relations, including, but not limited to: FMLA, ADA, wage and hour laws, and NLRB and EEOC case rulings.
  • Proficient in database management and MS Office: Word, Excel.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in HR, Industrial Relations or other related field.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or Personnel & Industrial Relations,
  • Or Bachelor's degree in related discipline and a minimum of 2 years HR related work experience,
  • Or High School diploma and a minimum of 3 years HR/related work experience.

Experience

  • 1 or more years as an HR Business Partner or Employee Relations Specialist.
  • Experience leading complex investigations.

  • Ability to organize multiple activities which require close attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Acts with sense of urgency, bias for action.
  • Ability to be seen as an advisor and advocate

Physical

  • Must have Class C driver's License

Travel

  • 50 to 75%
