Major/Essential Functions
Desired candidate will have experience in clinical research, with peer reviewed publications in PubMed indexed journals as first author. Will have had some clinical training, and understanding of the basics of clinical research-developing a hypothesis, performing a literature review, constructing a study design, assessing sample size, performing basic statistical analysis using Excel, SPSS, or similar, and writing a manuscript. Strong communication skills and fluency in English are required.
Will develop independent research projects in collaboration with faculty and residents in the Department of Surgery, as well as assist faculty on existing projects. They will receive support from clinical research nurses with patient recruitment and IRB applications, and mentorship from senior surgeons and physicians experienced in clinical research, and it is expected candidate will function independently for the majority of their work.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree or specialized academic training beyond the Bachelor's level in a particular field of science or engineering equivalent to a Master's degree. One year research experience. Knowledge of modern research practices, the methods, resources, and standards thereof.
