Job Goals:
- Oversee the entire Football Program.
- Serve as Head Football Program Director for program.
- Train, develop, monitor, and supervise student-athletics to play football.
- Build relationships with and have a willingness to coach both beginners and advanced student-athletes.
- Instruct student-athletes of fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
- Instruct and guide student-athletes to lead them to the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, self-confidence and good sportsmanship.
- Work cooperatively and in a timely manner, with School Athletic Department and the District Athletic Department, in regard to requests for pertinent information that might be required.
- Meet all requirements set forth by the District Board of Education, the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), and the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) relative to the required Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification and ODE Pupil Activity Permit.
- Model the behavior expected of our student-athletes including timeliness to practices, being positive and enthusiastic in practices, dressed approximately at all times, respectful at all times, positive and enthusiastic, and practicing constructive criticism while upholding the disciplines of the program.
- Develop respect through his/her example in appearance, behavior, language and conduct at all times.
- Set a positive example at all times while with student-athletes.
- Maintain a suitable sideline conduct including the use of appropriate language at all times.
- Check the status of student-athletes academic eligibility.
- Follow the School's Athletic Department Policy as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in the job description.
- Recognize the need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative policies set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, and OHSAA.
- Begin pre-season practices on the first day permitted by OHSAA.
- Participate in clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance.
- Participate in School Events (i.e., Awards Night programs, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings, etc.).
- Show physical vitality and enthusiasm for the sport and use good judgment in decision-making.
- Accept and profit from constructive criticism and suggestions for improving coaching performance.
- Is competent in techniques of the sport so that student-athletes will respond positively to directions.
- Demonstrate the ability to adapt properly to changing game situations.
- Is well-versed and knowledgeable in matters pertaining to the sport as well as look at ways to constantly improve knowledge and coaching techniques.
- Is innovative in using new coaching techniques and ideas in addition to already proven methods of coaching.
- Ensure that team is well-prepared for opponent(s).
- Provide motivation for team to meet/exceed their goals and stress the value of acceptable personal behavior by each team member.
- Actively promote good sportsmanship at all times.
- Maintenance and inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Fundraising experience.
- Ability to motivate and inspire others.
- Ability to serve as a positive role model
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
Trainings/Certifications:
- Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate desired.
- Successful participation in a similar activity in high school and/or college. Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the high school or college level is preferred.
- Provide a satisfactory result on a County Police Records Check, State BCII Check, and FBI Fingerprint Background Check. Possess an Ohio Department of Education Pupil Activity Permit. Provide satisfactory completion of Coaches Tool Chest Trainings/Certification.
