Job description

Salary for a teacher with no experience $33,036. To provide instruction to students which will help them to develop skills and learn subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women; to establish effective rapport with students; to establish good relationships with parents and staff members. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

Teaches district approved curriculum.Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.Writes lesson plans as required.Plans and prepares a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior in accordance with the district's approved discipline program to achieve an effective teaching/learning atmosphere.Evaluates students' academic and social growth; completes and maintains appropriate records according to district policy/procedure.Identifies student needs, develops strategies to address the needs, seeks assistance through the building's established processes.Possesses and utilizes technology skills in classroom instruction, record keeping, professional communication etc., as appropriate and/or required by the district.Supervises the work of paraprofessionals when such are assigned to the teacher and/or teacher's assigned area.Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.Communicates with parents outside the normal classroom day according to the requirements specified in the District Assessment Plan.Participates in professional development activities as required by the district and/or state. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises students; paraprofessionals as assigned; volunteers; other approved individuals within the instructional area. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Montana Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, professional correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from parents, students, staff, administration and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, staff and administration; skill in oral and written communication.

Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and policies. Ability to operate technology equipment as provided by the district. The employee is required to possess hand/eye/foot coordination adequate to use school related materials/equipment.

The employee may occasionally be required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. The employee must have the ability to talk and hear in person, by telephone and the ability to listen and interpret sounds of students. The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, and/or work of other people.

Specific vision abilities include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to focus. The position requires the employee to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with students, parents, staff, administration and the general public.
