Responsibilities:

  • Perform benefits administration, assist in employee relations, and maintain personnel files including ensuring nursing department certifications and licenses remain active.
  • Maintain human resource information system (HRIS) records and reports.
  • Maintain records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
  • Ensure adequate and appropriate staffing of the facility nursing department to meet the needs of the residents based on budget, census, DHS requirements, and other factors.
  • Assist with recruitment, answering applicant calls, regarding position availability, coordinate interviews, and hiring of new staff.
  • Assist employees in obtaining information concerning their paycheck, deductions, and overtime.
  • Communicate with corresponding managers to facilitate quality orientation programs and provide each newly hired personnel with an orientation schedule.
  • Assist in preparing payroll data for computer input.
  • Communicate all concerns regarding HR, Payroll and Staffing to the appropriate Supervisor on a timely basis.
  • Complete and post monthly nursing schedule in online scheduling program, coordinating requests to ensure appropriate coverage of units.
  • Communicate with outside staffing agencies as necessary to provide adequate staffing per DHS requirements as approved by administrator.
  • Answer employee calls regarding scheduling issues and prepare written correspondence as necessary.
  • Maintain daily tardy and absenteeism calendars for employee performance appraisals, reporting to the Director of Nursing Services all issues.
  • Work with Director of Nursing Services when scheduling modified work duty employees in accordance with work restrictions and facility policy.

 Qualifications:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates Degree preferred.
  • Experience in Human Resources and Payroll practices preferred.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Create and uphold an atmosphere of warmth, patience, enthusiasm, and a calm and cheerful environment.
