What is a HRIS Specialist

The HRIS Specialist provides system administrative support to all Workday product workstreams and is responsible for collaboration with Human Resources and other business units to meet their information and processing needs.  This opening specifically supports the Workday Learning, Talent, and Core HCM modules.

What does a HRIS Specialist do?

  • Manages day-to-day Workday functional operations and user support
  • Facilitates transactions and maintains employee HR records in Workday including but not limited to talent/performance review transactions & data, training/learning assignments, campaigns & records, job changes, supervisory org reporting structure changes, terminations/suspensions, compensation changes
  • Researches problems; monitors transaction statuses and resolves issues, identifies opportunities and seek opinions and feedback on suggested solutions, reassigns tasks as needed
  • Performs Workday Functional Lead responsibilities such as participating in design sessions, basic configuration, and performing unit & end to end testing, including the analysis, testing, and adoption of functionality from semi-annual Workday releases
  • Responsible for entry of employee data into Workday as needed
  • Maintains data integrity and compliance by creating and running reports, auditing, analyzing information and troubleshooting errors
  • Provides Workday end-user support; develops and maintains associated user support procedures, guidelines and documentation for use in training. Partners and builds relationships with end-user stakeholders to advance Workday adoption and ease of use
  • Configures and maintains basic Workday HRIS functionality
  • Provides support for storm/emergency restoration efforts

 

What does it take to be a HRIS Specialist?

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Computer Science, Communications or a relevant field and experience using Workday or other SaaS cloud based HRIS platforms in production such as maintaining records in a Learning Management System or executing Core HCM transactions such as job change, termination, reorganizations, and/or ad-hoc compensation changes. In lieu of bachelors degree, an associate’s degree and 3 years of related experience as previously stated or a high school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of related experience as previously stated.
  • Analytical mindset with strong ability to identify, troubleshoot and resolve system issues
  • Ability to learn technology quickly through instruction and self-training
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as on a team
  • Ability to manage multiple, high priority tasks and adjust to shifting priorities, while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Extremely organized with attention to detail
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and proficiency in the other Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential documents and information
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred:

  • Experience using Workday in a production environment in a system administrator capacity, specifically the Workday modules for: Learning, Talent, Core HCM, as well as Report Writer
  • Process change documentation experience
  • Experiencing making configuration changes in Workday
  • Experience with ticketing software to track bugs/issues/enhancements
  • Prior experience in the electric and/or gas utility industry or related field

Pay range: $78,900-144,900
