Job description

Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
  • Screen applications and interview applicants for part time positions.
  • Perform new hire orientation and complete new hire paperwork with part time employees.
  • Ensure all new hire paperwork is filled out properly including W-4's, I9, application, and direct deposit form.
  • Enter stagehand hours into excel spreadsheet for payroll processing.
  • Assist with maintenance of Affirmative Action log and employee lists.
  • Assist HR Manager in responding to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Manage exhibitor services, including receiving, compiling orders, and processing payment for events with vendors in the Convention Center.
  • Create turnover letters for newly contracted events.
  • Track and collect insurance for Convention Center events.
  • Answer multiline telephones and provide information as needed.
  • Attend monthly safety meeting and serve as record keeper.
  • Coordinate monthly birthday gatherings.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience
  • High School diploma or G.E.D along with experience working in an office environment.
  • Previous human resources and recruiting experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities
  • Familiarity with Human Resource regulations and policies and related state and federal regulations required.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to handle multiple tasks at a time.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service and public relations skills.
  • Must have high regard for confidentiality.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge of Workday and ABI scheduling system a plus.
Other Qualifications
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long hours; use hands to handle files, type and operate office machines; to talk and hear on the telephone. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision to handle office correspondence.
Ability to work a flexible schedule to include regular business hours as well as evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
