Entry level technical work establishing, maintaining, and updating human resources information, records, data, and automated systems. Incumbents will participate in an on-the-job training program and will be responsible for performing more complex work with a greater volume over time as a demonstration of appropriate progress towards successful completion of the on-the-job training program and his/her probationary period.This class lies above HR/Staffing Assistant and/or Secretary III below that of Human Resources Technician.
Essential Functions
1. Participates in an on-the-job training program to learn how to perform the essential functions using the District's automated human resource information systems as well as other job-related functions.
2. Reviews, researches, and processes a variety of human resources actions and advises schools, departments, and other Human Resources staff of recommended disposition or necessary action.
3. Responds to inquiries and provides information on human resources matters and issues such as multiple assignments, supplements, over/under payments, incentive pay, and step placement.
4. Establishes, maintains, and updates human resources files and associated records and systems, including interfacing with Budget, Payroll, Benefits, Pension and other related activities.
5. Audits human resources-related transactions, data, information, records and reports and takes appropriate action to correct errors in a timely manner.
6. Compiles data for development of recommendations, reports, and spreadsheets.
7. Provides technical guidance, assistance, and training to other employees on human resources matters and issues.
8. Enters human resources-related data to the District's automated systems.
9. Prepares correspondence and reports.

Qualifications
Open Requirements: A four (4) year combination of education, training, and/or experience in clerical /technical human resources work, two (2) years of which must have included reviewing, researching, and processing human resources forms, records, files and requests OR establishing, auditing and maintaining personnel, payroll and/or leave records AND involved data entry to and the regular use of an automated human resource system. Human resource experience with SAP or comparable automated human resource systems for a large, complex organization preferred.
Promotional Requirements: All permanent employees who have served for one (1) year in the class(es) of HR/Staffing Assistant and/or Secretary III and have at least two (2) years of experience which included the performance of human resources-related functions that involved data entry to and the regular use of the District's automated human resource system as the primary purpose for which such job existed may apply.
Please Note:
- This is an entrance level class from which an employee may be promoted to the next level. Promotion is contingent upon meeting time and grade requirements and a recommendation* from the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. A permanent employee in this class, however, is not required to promote to the next level and may continue in this class so long as he or she continually performs the essential functions of this class successfully.
*Such recommendation shall be based on the individual employee's demonstration of his/her ability to work independently with little to no supervision, efficiency in the performance of the essential functions of this class, and skill to accurately perform the more complex duties and responsibilities.
