Job Description
Primary Mission: The Human Resources Manager is responsible for the creation, execution, promotion, and maintenance of company human resources policies and practices. The HRM advocates for the success of the company through HR practices. This position will oversee 2 subordinates (Generalist and Payroll).
- Responsible for human resource compliance with regards to all state and federal labor laws.
- Plan and conduct new employee onboarding and orientation. Oversee recruitment and ensure the filling of vacant positions within the company. Ensure that appropriate background investigations, drug tests, and other new employee validations are conducted prior to the start of new team members.
- Handle and resolve employee relations issues and advise senior management on the appropriate execution and resolution of employee relations issues.
- Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs. Evaluate human relations and work-related issues. Meet with supervisors and managers to determine effective remediation techniques such as job skill training or personal intervention in an effort to prevent or resolve human relations issues among personnel.
- Oversee and develop rewards, recognition, and incentive programs aimed at enhancing employee engagement and productivity. Write directives advising employees of company policies regarding equal employment opportunities, compensation, and employee benefits. Plan company events.
- Maintain and update the employee handbook. Provide and deliver information and materials to keep the staff informed and up to date on policies and procedures.
- Oversee safety, risk management, and workers compensation: Plan implement, and administer safety programs and procedures. Ensure safety policies are in compliance with local, state and federal laws. Investigate accidents, defend claims, and prepare reports for the insurance carrier. The HRM will be responsible for providing continued safety training for all employees ensuring that the organization is in full compliance with OSHA requirements.
- Maintain full and complete employee documentation systems. This includes the development and maintenance of documentation systems to ensure record keeping and reporting requirements are complete, accurate, and easily accessible to the appropriate company personnel. Documents and keeps accurate filing for all applications, resumes, offer letters, NDA, INS Form I-9, complaints, grievances, and other important communications to and by employees.
- Administer company insurance and benefits programs including general business, workers comp, liability and umbrella policies. Act as the primary administrator of the employee medical, dental, vision and any other employee benefits related programs. Maintain and act as the keeper and custodian of employee records including benefit plan participation. Conduct research on new insurance vendors.
- Oversee payroll functions and ensure payroll is prepared in a timely and error free manner.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources preferred
- Must be hands on and an executor
- 10 + years in human resources, with no less than 5 years in an HR management role
- SPHR Certification a plus
- Excellent technical/computer skills required
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills required
- Manufacturing or distribution experience highly desired
- Must possess a strong business acumen, be able to make good business decisions and is able to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Excellent knowledge of state and federal labor laws
