Job description

Fortiss, LLC. is seeking a highly motivated Human Resources Manager to join our dynamic HR team. We are a collaborative team looking for the newest member of our squad. The HR Manager will manage several functions within the Human Resources department and should be well versed in all aspects of Human Resources.


  • Investigate any assigned team member relations issues or concerns, and communicate with involved team members as necessary.
  • Act as the Human Resources Department liaison for team member relations matters.
  • Create appropriate and detailed investigation documentation per departmental standards.
  • Provide team member relations support for performance management programs and disciplinary actions, including investigations and separations.
  • Respond on behalf of the company and clients to unemployment claims.
  • Administer team member performance programs, including performance reviews program and discipline policies.
  • Track team member performances.
  • Conduct exit interviews. 
  • Serve as business partner to client casinos by providing general Human Resources consulting services to casino management, through administration of programs and functions, while incorporating the use of human resources best practices in accordance with federal and state law, local ordinances and regulations, and company policies.
  • Interprets laws and regulations and ensure compliance.
  • Administer various compliance programs including workers’ compensation, unemployment insurance, leaves of absence, and ADA.
  • Prepares team members for work assignments by establishing and conducting new hire orientation and on-boarding activities.
  • Ensure team members are properly licensed.
  • Records team member information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, attendance, performance reviews or evaluations, and termination date and reason.
  • Updates team member files to document personnel actions and to provide information for payroll and other uses.
  • Examines team member files to answer inquiries and provides information to authorized persons.
  • Compiles data from personnel records and prepares reports.
  • Compiles and maintains records for use in team member benefits administration.
  • Prepares and files reports of accidents and injuries at establishment.
  • Assists team members with benefits enrollment, changes, etc.
  • Maintain and support the accuracy of all required HR/payroll records including team member transactions, on-boarding forms, EEOC, etc.
  • Specific tasks may include but are not limited to: coordinating and hosting open enrollment; initiating team member communications and writing newsletters; managing team member recognition programs; writing job descriptions , administering team member benefits and compensation programs; posting and distributing required notifications; drafting policies and procedures; investigating accidents and preparing reports for insurance carrier; representing Fortiss or clients at personnel-related hearings and investigations; advertising position openings; administering team member surveys; and coordinating background checks, credit checks, reference checks and drug tests.

  • Extensive knowledge of Human Resources practices and procedures. 
  • Solid knowledge of wage and hour and payroll practices.
  • Able to work with complex systems and to implement sound policies and procedures.
  • Reputation for handling situations and confidential information discretely.
  • Projecting a positive, professional and supportive outward image, and exercising good judgment.
  • Strong writing skills and investigative skills.
  • Ability and desire to train others and serve as a change agent.
  • Solid knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and a track record of interacting and communicating well with all management and team member levels.
  • Strong computing skills demonstrating proficiency with human resources information systems, payroll and Microsoft office.
  • Ability to review information in a factual and neutral manner, analyze data and prepare reports and documents in a timely manner.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects in parallel.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours.
  • Passion for our owner’s vision and desire to work in a Casino environment.

Education:

  • Four year degree in Human Resources or a related discipline or equivalent preferred. PHR or SPHR certification a plus. 

Experience:

  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in human resources with a minimum of two years experience as an HR Manager in an organization of similar size and complexity. 

Physical and mental requirements

  • Must be able to sit and bend at neck for six or more hours a day.
  • Position will require repetitive use of hands for the following actions; simple and grasping, fine manipulation and typing for entire shift.
  • Occasional requirement to stand whilst completing all listed tasks that are not desk-based.
  • Occasional requirement to reach forward whilst: Inserting and collecting documents from
  • printer/scanner/mailing/machine
  • Occasional requirement to lift up to 30lbs; this extends to: • Files • Paper reams • File boxes • Office equipment etc.
  • Must be able to perform all essential duties with or without accommodation
