JOB DESCRIPTION:

Analytical. Detail Oriented. Resourceful. Team player. These qualities are essential in the role of the HR Compliance Analyst within the Compliance Division of the State Bureau of Human Resources. If you enjoy working with members of management, and excel at researching, analyzing and compiling information, then your next career could be in the Bureau of Human Resources.

All jobs in State Government fall into hundreds of classifications. As an HR Compliance Analyst, you are a member of a team responsible for ensuring that state employees at all levels are properly compensated and classified. You will be responsible for comparing the duties employees perform with classification specifications or job descriptions in order to make sound determinations and recommendations. You will help develop minimum qualifications in order to establish minimum acceptable eligibility standards. You will write and revise class specifications and determine pay ranges in order to update existing classification specifications or document new classifications. You will ensure the duties envisioned of new positions align with the proposed job classification. You will assist with a new requirement of the State to conduct market pay studies every 4 years. You may also testify at appeal hearings in order to give information to support the State’s case.

  • Possess strong analytical skills.
  • Possess strong writing skills.
  • Analyze and evaluate job related materials and conduct job audit interviews

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidates must demonstrate skills and experience in evidence gathering and analysis, report writing and recommendations.
  • Preference will be given to employees with experience working with the State’s compensation and classification systems.
  • Preference will also be given to those who submit a cover letter and resume’ to be considered for an interview.

  • Retirement Plan – The State of Maine contributes 18.21% of pay to the Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePERS), on behalf of the employee.
  • Gym Membership Reimbursement – Improve overall health with regular exercise and receive up to $40 per month to offset this expense.
  • Health and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts – Set aside money pre-tax to help pay for out-of-pocket health care expenses and/or daycare expenses.
