The Vermont Department of Human Resources seeks a strong Human Resources Business Partner to join a vibrant team supporting two departments within the Agency of Human Services: the Department for Children & Families and the Department of Disabilities, Aging & Independent Living. Duties will include varying degrees of HR Business Partner/Generalist work in performance management, supervisory coaching, labor relations, hiring and onboarding, position management, records management, and medical leave and accommodation requests.
Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required; familiarity with working in a union environment a plus. The ideal candidate will have experience in employee/ labor relations work including drafting corrective actions, grievances, and HR related investigations. Responsibilities include providing guidance and assistance to appointing authorities, managers and supervisors throughout the grievance and disciplinary processes, and conducting HR related investigations.
The Department of Human Resources is currently supporting a hybrid telework model.

Duties are performed largely in a standard office setting, but some travel may be required for which private means of transportation should be available. Some work outside of regular work schedule may be required. Strong differences of opinion may be encountered in dealing with employee grievances, union representatives, or members of management.
Three (3) years or more of experience in the field of human resources that includes employee relations or labor relations.
Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field.
Experience in public sector employment.
Supervisory experience.
Labor Relations experience.
