GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Human Resources and Benefits Specialist is responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, worker’s compensation, 401(k), as well as other benefit related programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support all employee benefit programs such as medical, dental, ancillary benefits, life insurance, accident and disability insurance, voluntary insurance, COBRA, flexible spending, health savings and 401(k) plan;
- Serve as the subject matter expert and first point of contact for employees and management regarding all employee benefit issues, concerns and questions;
- Ensure the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide payroll and vendors with accurate eligibility information;
- Ensure the successful implementation of new and/or revised benefits programs including timely notification to employees of pertinent changes;
- Process life status changes and domestic partner requests;
- Ensure compliance with ACA (Affordable Care Act);
- Oversee the wellness program and initiatives;
- Assist with annual open enrollment process including plan and enrollment set up in HRIS system, communication and support for all staff;
- Deliver benefits portion of new-hire orientation and assist with all other elements, as needed;
- Perform quality checks of benefits-related data and works with Payroll & HRIS Administrator to reconcile benefit related invoices;
- Process and administers all leave of absence requests and disability paperwork including COVID related leave, medical, personal, disability and FMLA;
- Effectively interpret FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities;
- Respond to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollment, plan changes, and contribution amounts, hardship requests and loan requests. Manages bi-annual enrollment;
- Communicate and process Continuing Education (CME) and fitness reimbursement;
- Set-up and facilitate the annual flu clinic for all locations;
- Receives, reviews and submits all worker’s compensation claims and paperwork;
- Reviews, evaluates and approves all accommodation requests and partners with managers to ensure compliance;
- Promote effective collaboration and provide support to Payroll and Talent Acquisition;
- Additional assignments and/or project may be assigned;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in related field required;
- HR certification desired;
QUALIFICATIONS (CONTINUED)
- Minimum two (2) years of human resources/ benefits administration experience; This is not an entry level position.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple partners to positively affect outcomes at the team, organization, and employee level;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS platforms required;
- Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws with interest and ability to keep up with any related changes;
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and develop relationships both internally and externally;
- Demonstrated ability to work with and maintain confidential information;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Flexibility to work in and adapt to an ever changing and fast-paced environment;
- Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
OTHER INFORMATION
- This position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds periodically.
- This is an “in office” position in a safe work environment (COVID safety protocols in effect).
- This position requires periodic travel to and between practice locations and related companies, as needed and required.
- This position requires more than 40 hours a week including periodic meetings after regular business hours.
