JOB SUMMARY
The Digital Press Operator oversees the operation of the Printing Press and Leads the Press Operators with set-up, cleanup, job changes, and pre-stage when required. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure pressrooms are clean and maintained with necessary materials; attend to paper staging areas when needed.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Scraping printing plates and setting them up to be reused for another job.
- Installing new software and updating existing software as needed
- Preparing proofs for review by clients or designers before printing
- Cleaning and maintaining the machines used to print presses.
- Adjusting color settings and other controls to ensure high quality print output.
- Loading paper into the press, making sure that it is aligned correctly for printing.
- Monitoring machine operation and making adjustments as necessary to ensure high quality output.
- Operating a computer to create digital files from scratch or from other files such as photographs or illustrations.
- Loading paper into the press and removing finished prints from the press.
- Other duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- H.S. diploma or equivalent
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as graphic design or computer science
- 1 – 3 years relative experience operating presses
