What Does a Housing Specialist Worker Do?
This is the role that started it all with RTI. Housing Specialists will assist clients with disabilities obtain stable and affordable housing. Common tasks are meeting with clients, assessing and overcoming barriers pertaining to housing, identifying and accessing community financial resources, and assisting clients in developing skills to maintain housing.
What Can I Expect Working for RTI in this Role?
You will report to the program manager and have no direct reports. Above your Program Manager is a Director, and then the CEO. You can expect your day-to-day responsibilities to include:
- Meet with clients in community settings and virtually.
- Visit and Tour potential properties.
- Communicate with external resources regarding funding and access.
- Identify and encourage client strengths regarding maintaining housing.
- Identify client weaknesses regarding maintaining housing, and help client develop skills to overcome.
- Documentation of individual client progress, and communication to internal and external stakeholders
