Posting Summary
The Center for State Health Policy (CSHP) within Rutgers Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research (IFH) is recruiting a faculty member with demonstrated ability to develop and lead a program of research informing public policy strategies addressing Health Equity, with a focus on the role of homelessness, housing, and related social drivers of population health outcomes. Candidates eligible for appointment at the associate or full professor level are preferred, although earlier stage candidates with a strong record of independent, extramurally supported research will be considered.
The successful candidate will engage primarily with the multi-disciplinary faculty in CSHP and collaborating units while participating in other activities within the strategic Housing and Health Equity Cluster spanning Rutgers units. The incumbent will be jointly appointed in the IFH and a tenure-granting department appropriate to their discipline and interests, where they will also contribute to that unit's teaching and service missions.
After an initial three-year period, the successful candidate will be expected to cover a substantial share of their time with extramural funding awards. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with relevant research experience, publication record, and other achievements. Generous start-up resources will be provided. The successful candidate will work in-residence within CSHP/IFH.
About the Housing and Health Equity Housing Cluster
The goal of the Rutgers Housing & Health Equity Cluster is to advance Health Equity through research, teaching, and service by addressing housing-related drivers of health and well-being, which can include structural, systemic, institutional, and individual effects of racism and discrimination, both historically and today.
The Housing and Health Equity Cluster is supported with funds from the Rutgers Presidential Diversity Hiring Initiative. Cluster appointments are intended to help Rutgers build toward greater diversity, equity, and inclusive excellence on our campuses. Diversity refers to the variety of personal experiences, values, and worldviews that arise from differences of culture and circumstance. Such differences include race, ethnicity, gender and gender identity, age, religion, language, disability status, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, geographic region, and more.
In addition to this posting, the cluster initiative includes recruitment for positions in the Rutgers School of Social Work, the Department of Family and Community Health Sciences within Rutgers Cooperative Extension, and the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy.
To support these efforts, the Faculty Diversity Collaborative in the Office of University Equity and Inclusion provides individualized and targeted faculty support at various career stages to ensure effective and inclusive mentoring, expand networking opportunities, and develop leadership skills to foster a sense of belonging and professional growth.
