Job Summary:
Responsible for overseeing and providing housekeeping services to include dusting, trash removal, odor control, laundry services to include collection of soiled lien and distribution of clean linens, sanitation of usable surfaces, bathroom cleaning, mapping and vacuuming, carpet and upholstery cleaning and all other cleaning duties required to maintain a safe and clean environment.
Responsibilities
- Ensures all areas of the campus are clean and sanitized on a daily basis in accordance with department standards and procedures.
- Handles complaints concerning services, workmanship, customer satisfaction, staff productivity, training and competency.
- Provides quality assurance by conducting area inspections monthly to identify measurable performance criteria. Resolves problematic patterns and develops action plans for correction of all discovered deficiencies.
- Orders approved housekeeping supplies, equipment and linen. Coordinates laundry services. Ensures upkeep and proper use of equipment operated by staff.
- Maintains housekeeping records according to Joint Commission standards.
- Provides supervision, evaluation and training of assigned staff.
- Serve on committees as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Skills and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education diploma required
- Minimum of three years supervisory experience in a similar environment.
- Ability to use telephones extensively; ability to relay clear written messages; ability to use computer keyboard and calculator extensively.
- Ability to effectively read, write and process information; ability to input/retrieve information to/from computer and files.
- Ability to converse with others to give, take and process information in English; extensive use of telephone. Ability to hear alarms and pages.
- Ability to converse in English with others to give, take and process information; extensive use of telephone. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information, multi-task, coordinate projects and record/transcribe general and specific meeting minutes. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Communicate with other staff to relay concerns and observations involving patient safety.
- Occasional/limited exposure to: Infection and to the risk of bloodborne diseases; hazardous agents, body fluids and wastes; unpleasant patient or departmental elements; to potentially violent/aggressive patients/staff/visitors, critical incidents, and/or sentinel events. Occasionally needed to work irregular hours or additional hours.
