North Platte Valley Medical Center (NPVMC) is looking for a Housekeeper Supervisor to join our team. Our Environmental services will be responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining a clean hospital environment as directed in a safe, responsible, and efficient manner. We do have an onsite laundry facility that the department will also maintain.
The ideal person for this position has experience, enjoys working individually and as a team, is well-spoken, energetic, and personable.
The Housekeeping supervisor assumes authority, responsibility and accountability for providing housekeeping and laundry services to create a safe, sanitary, comfortable and homelike environment for residents, patients, staff and the public. Manages up to 10 employees to provide services according to facility philosophy and consistent with state and federal laws and regulations. In collaboration with the COO allocates resources in an efficient and economic manner to ensure that housekeeping and laundry services are provided and that the services enhance quality of life in the facility.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates satisfactory level of interpersonal skills to interact with facility staff, Administration, residents, patients, families, vendors and government agencies.
- Demonstrates knowledge and ability to apply principles of housekeeping and laundry procedures to achieve and maintain a safe, comfortable, sanitary, and homelike environment.
- Able to perform personnel functions including interviewing prospective staff, conducting performance evaluations that assure staff can perform essential functions of their job, and taking job actions as appropriate.
Essential Job Functions:
- Develops routine cleaning schedules for resident/patient rooms and common areas of facility. Develops schedules for special projects and large jobs such as walls, windows, etc.
- Gives daily assignments to housekeeping staff and to laundry staff. Plans and organizes departmental activities to accomplish goals in an effective, timely manner.
- Develops safeguards and takes appropriate actions to secure housekeeping, laundry supplies out of reach of residents/patients at all times.
- Monitors the performance of Housekeeping staff by observing staff performing duties on all units, on all shifts.
- Completes required documentation and record keeping of Housekeeping and Laundry activities. Audits records of staff for accuracy, completeness. Implements approaches to improve department record keeping practices.
- Conducts interviews, provides regular performance reviews, takes appropriate job actions, reviews job actions taken by subordinates to assure that staff meet qualification and performance standards and can perform all essential functions of the job.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Detail-oriented, confidential, and professional
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- One year experience in institutional housekeeping or laundry department with supervisory or management responsibilities preferred.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds at times
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and reach, bend, lift and pull
Salary: $17.00 - $22.44 per hour
