SCOPE OF SERVICE/CUSTOMER:
Provides cleaning for tenant and non-tenant areas of the Ellen Kennedy Living Center. Services provided include: surface cleaning, floor care, carpet cleaning, and moving equipment and furniture. The age of the customer is older adult. Responsible for ordering and reporting supply needs to the Director.
Customers include: tenants within the Living Center, employees, volunteers, and visitors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Demonstrates specific customer focused behaviors regarding attitude, acknowledgment, privacy/ confidentiality, communication skills, professional behavioral and timely responsiveness. Performs cleaning functions within tenant apartments or condominiums. Cleaning involves dusting, sweeping and use of disinfectants. Performs discharge cleaning of a tenant apartment/condominium and remaking the apartment/condominium by mopping floors, cleaning windows and blinds, cupboards and appliances, dusting, vacuuming, shampooing if needed and cleaning bathroom(s). Performs cleaning functions in offices and other common areas of the facility. Performs thorough housecleaning by cleaning walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows and blinds, curtains, furniture, windows, light fixtures/chandeliers and other items following a yearly matrix or as needed. Stocks carts on each shift and keeps supplies in work area. Demonstrates activity to impact change within your department and with other departments. Promotes and establishes effective relationships within the department, with other departments, physicians, and with facility guest and clients. Takes an active role in enhancing abilities to carry out job functions through personal and professional/job-related growth and development.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Must be able to work with and accept varying demands of the tenants, public and other employees. Must be able to become familiar with use and care of housekeeping equipment. Ability to work harmoniously with other departments. Must be able to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with tenants and public. Must be able to deal with the Living Center and public contacts in a cordial, courteous and helpful manner.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to stand on feet up to 8 hours daily and the ability to continuously lift, stoop, climb, kneel, crouch, push, pull, move furniture and carry cleaning equipment. Less than 5% of time may lift up to 75 lbs. and carry up to 50 lbs. Must be able to see at a near visual acuity level. Must be able to speak and hear speech.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Some previous experience in public facility standards, methods and procedures desirable, but not mandatory as may be trained on the job. High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
