Necessary qualifications and skills: High school diploma or GED required. Must be able to sufficiently read and write.
Summary: Performs indirect patient care, which includes but is not limited to, cleaning occupied and unoccupied patient areas and maintaining an environment which is hygienically clean and free of hazards for the well-being of patient, other associates, and self. An understanding and willingness to follow infection control, housekeeping department policies and procedures, and safety. Needs to be knowledgeable with the physical location of all departments (i.e., CCU - OB - ER - etc.). Handle all waste according to proper policy and procedures. Clean, disinfect areas using approved solutions. Request cleaning supplies and equipment as needed. Maintain equipment - keep it clean, neat, and in working order.
Job Duties and Descriptions:
- Exhibits basic professional behavior (i.e., dress code, honesty, respect) and service to others.
- Completes all procedures scheduled during work shift.
- Strives to make good use of time; seeks out work that needs to be done; assists others as needed.
- Maintains all equipment in clean, neat, working fashion. Reports all equipment needing repairs and/or any safety hazards to appropriate department.
- Identifies problems or dissatisfaction of patient and works to solve them to high degree of patient’s satisfaction.
- Exhibits proficiency with current department policies and procedures (e.g., knowledge of steps used in cleaning/disinfection procedures, knowledge of infection control and isolation procedures related to cleaning, complete knowledge of hospital fire, disaster, and safety policies and procedures)
